Colors seem muted...

I don't understand how in a season like fall people wear dark, dull, muted out colors. Fall is so colorful with greens, oranges, reds and yellows. It's like people are trying to make themselves depressed.

I want to buy new fall clothes and I want there to be colors.

I want yellow shoes. <3

Steps to control my feelings...

I am a horrible binge eater and it has everything to do with how I feel. If I'm upset, bored or angry I will eat to avoid my feelings.
I have been trying different things to lose weight. Counting calories, food journals and fasting. Over exercising and the like. However I will always go back to binging. I don't feel bad at the time. I sometimes don't feel guilty til the next day when I finally realize how much I did eat.

So in my ordeal of always finding the next thing hoping it will work for me.
I found this pdf file for a daily journal that bases what you eat on your mood. To help find your triggers and issues.

Link

I hope it all works out.

I Rather Be Blind Then Deaf

Seems as of lately I am going back to my old ways. Listening to huge amounts of dance and rock music while I draw.
Life is good. ♥

Foodie Wednesday: Farmers Cheese

Something super easy today. Not something you would want to make all the time, but it is nice to say you made your own cheese at least once in your life. ;)

Ingredients
3 cups Whole Milk
Lemon and/or vinegar
Cheese Cloth

Take you milk and slowly heat it up to about 175 degrees or when bubbles start to form around the edge of the pot and its all steamy. Then take the pot off the heat.

Show love for the piggie spatula

Then juice half your lemon and add it to the pot of milk. Stir slowly for a minute. You will see the crud separate from the whey. Trust me when I say. For some people this part will look gross but it's a good gross.

Then just let it sit in the pot for about 10 minutes.

Now take a stainer and some cheesecloth. About four layers worth. Slowly pour your cheese in.
Make sure you drain it in a pot to keep the whey.

Now from this point you can do a few things.

There cheese in that. Hmm.

You can let the cheese lightly drain til it becomes more or less like the consistency of cottage cheese.

You can also tie the cheesecloth over and let it hang over your pot for about a half hour and it will be thick like cream cheese. If you want it to be a lil' thinner like a ricotta cheese just add a few spoon fulls of whey back to the crud and mix til you get what you like.

Now the cheese will taste flat if you don't add salt. So add salt to taste. From that point on you can add what you like. Different herbs and spices.

I like making my cheese thicker and cooling it in a ramekin. When I serve it I add pepper and olive oil over it. It's nice with toast or crackers.
If you make it more like ricotta you can use it in pasta dishes and the like.
Basically you can use it anyway you use any other cheese.

*Tips
If you don't have a lemon you can use vinegar.
To give your cheese a tangy flavor you can add an additional cup of buttermilk at the beginning.
If your milk doesn't curdle right away add additional lemon or vinegar.

The cost to make this cheese pretty much equals out to the price of buying similar already made cheese. However you should say at least once you made cheese. Ha.

Have a nice Wednesday.

CLEANING MONDAYS,,, yay

It's my day off and it's raining. So it's a cleaning day for me.
I don't mind cleaning days so much. Time for myself and to do the things I need to do.
Plus I think a lot. My anxiety tends to make me think of very negative things.
But when I clean I think about nice things. Very odd.

It's a quiet day.

Soon Back to the Daily Grind

Tonight shift is my first shift of the week. My weekend was an up and down of stress for me because I stress about everything. Ha ha. I don't like going to work sometimes but working makes me not think of things as much as I do. Not that I am mindless or anything. Well maybe I am.

Went to the Asian groceries yesterday and found many things that I needed. They didn't have any miso right now. Which was super sad, I have to wait two weeks. What can ya do?

I'm really starting to think about converting to a highly Asian influenced diet with fish, noodles and veggies. The bus outside my apartment goes straight to the Asian shops so its not hard to buy groceries.

Most of the Asian food I enjoy is very healthy and I really enjoy the flavors, like soy and dashi and such. When with the traditional North American fair I enjoy, cheese and bread and such.

It's a lil out of balanced when I favorite cuisines are Asian (more so Japanese) and Southern United States. With there delicious pan fried chicken and corn bread. Damn.+

Also I didn't post Haul Monday. because I didn't have anything to haul. Ha ha. I wasn't going to show you my groceries. Ha.

Have a nice Tuesday.

Weekend Fun: Bits and Pieces

Had a hard day at work Saturday. Was not a fun time. I feel when I go in on Tuesday shits going to hit the fan like always. Anyway...

NOTD
Icings "Peel Me an Orange"

I'm tired and my brain is fried.
Sometimes I wish things were different.

However tomorrow the DH and myself are going to a sushi restaurant and then to the Asian grocery store to get some yummy things.

Also made some individual mac and cheese with maple bacon. YumYum.

Review Friday: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer in Sin

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin

A creamy primer based on Urban Decays popular eyeshadow "Sin"

The primer is more or less a champagne color with slight pink undertone and somewhat frosty. Very much on the neutral side this would look lovely on light or dark skin tones.

This gives shadows a slightly shimmery look and shadows do stick to this primer well. The colors look much more vibrant and stay put for a long time. This would even look nice just wore on its own with no shadow. As well as a highlighter.

However if you are the type who doesn't like shimmer or frost don't get it.

Get the original or even the new matte version.

Many people complain about the bottle. The bottle is cute, many people say it's wasteful and hard to get all the product. Now I haven't used a whole bottle to be able to tell you that this is as bad as people say it is. However there are many tutorials on YouTube for getting the remaining product out. So the way I think about it is, get over it or try something different.

Also I think that if you have oily lids this product wouldn't be a good choice. It's more creamy then the original and a lil' goes a long way. So I feel you would just end up with creasing. Which defeats the whole point of the product.

This product is $18 on Sephora and for some people that seems expensive. It's not. There is a lot of product in this lil' bottle (10ml or 0.34 fl oz.) it will last forever.

Have a awesome Friday night!

Foodie Wednesday: Simple Pancakes

Sorry for the crappy early morning photo lol

Would it be an ego trip to say I think my pancakes are the best? Haha.
Well these are just some basic fluffy, but not to thick pancakes that I make all the time.

Please I'm sure everyone has these ingredients in there kitchen so you have no excuse to be using pre-made box mix stuff.

Ingredients
1¼ cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbs. sugar
A good pinch of salt

1½ cups milk
1 egg
2-3 tbs. oil

Nothing special from this point. Toss it all in a bowl and mix just enough to combine the mixture. Do not over mix. Who cares if there are some lumps. I don't.

Let your mixture sit for about 5 minutes just to let all the ingredients settle.

Now if you have a griddle I recommend you use it. I find it just cooks the pancake much better since it's more even heat.

If you have a griddle turn it to 350-375 You'll have to judge. You want it hot but not too hot.
For frying pans have it about medium-medium high.

Now the size of your pancakes are fully up to you. I make mine a lil bigger then a CD and get about 6-7 pancakes out of it.

When you pour your batter onto your cooking surface don't touch anything. You'll know its time to flip when bubbles start to come to the surface and the edge is very slightly cooked. Flip it. When the uncooked side hits the pan you will see the pancake rise. I'm always amused by this part. Then let it cook for about half the time it cooked on the other side.

Then take it off and plate. Simple right.

I like to serve mine with butter and syrup. Though it is also good with powdered sugar and fruit.
Jams like strawberry are good. Pecans and syrup. Cinnamon and sugar is great and of course for the kids or just young at heart. Whipping cream and fudge.

Also don't be scared to just mix tasty bits straight into your batter.
Blueberries
Chocolate chips
Cinnamon

So I hope you enjoy my pancakes. Tell me how you like your pancakes or how yours may differ from mine.

Have a nice Wednesday.
